The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is administered by the Farm Service Agency (FSA). It is a voluntary program that encourages agricultural producers & landowners to convert highly erodible and other environmentally sensitive acreage to vegetative cover. By enrolling in CRP, participants receive annual rental payments and cost-share assistance to establish long-term, resource-conserving vegetative covers. The program helps improve water quality, control soil erosion, & enhance wildlife habitat.  It contributes to overall environmental health and sustainability.

While CRP applications, payments, and eligibility are administered by FSA, agricultural producers and landowners will work one-on-one with NRCS, the technical service provider, to determine the best method for putting practices in place.
